The Heart Behind Wonder & Light

Hi, I’m Amanda.

Truthfully, if we were sitting together in real life, this conversation would probably happen over coffee, interrupted by snack requests, big feelings, and someone yelling “Mom!” from the other room. It definitely wouldn’t sound like a polished about page—and honestly, that feels fitting.

Because Wonder & Light was never meant to be a polished, perfect space.

It was created for families who are tired of the pressure to do more, be more, schedule more, and somehow still make it all look effortless. A place where childhood is worth protecting, faith belongs in ordinary moments, and meaningful family life doesn’t have to look picture-perfect to be beautiful.

As both an educator and a mom, I care deeply about childhood. I’ve spent years studying how children learn and grow, but motherhood has taught me something just as important: knowing what children need and living real family life are two very different things.

And if I’m honest, my journey into motherhood didn’t unfold the way I once imagined it would.

Our family was built through heartbreak, waiting, foster care, adoption, deep faith, and grace I can only explain by God’s hand. That journey changed me. It changed the way I see childhood, family life, connection, and what truly matters. It also shaped the kind of space I wanted to create.

Wonder & Light isn’t just a place for resources or ideas. It’s a place where parents don’t have to mask, pretend, or perform some polished version of family life. A place where children are celebrated for exactly who God created them to be. A place where wonder is welcomed, meaningful learning happens naturally, and grace always has the final word.

Here, you’ll find encouragement, practical ideas, meaningful learning, faith-filled resources, and reminders that the beautifully ordinary moments of family life matter deeply.

And if that’s the kind of family life you’ve been longing for too, I’m so glad you’re here.

The Little Lights in My Life

The little people who inspire every bit of this space.

These four little humans are the inspiration behind every muddy shoe, big idea, porch conversation, and resource created here. They've taught me more about wonder, grace, and childhood than any textbook ever could.

The Calm in Our Chaos

Wonder & Light may have my name on it, but this little dream has always been a family effort.

My husband is the steady one behind so much of our chaos—the coach, the calm voice, the late-night sounding board, and the one reminding me that I cannot, in fact, do all the things at once.

He spends his days pouring into students and athletes, then comes home to the beautiful whirlwind that is our family of six.

While I’m dreaming up resources, writing porch conversations, or chasing one more “wait… what if I did THIS?” idea, he’s helping with homework, wrangling bedtime, making grocery runs, fixing whatever someone accidentally broke, and holding a lot of the real-life pieces together.

This space exists because of countless ordinary moments of teamwork, grace, prayer, laughter, and “we’ll figure it out” kind of faith. Wonder & Light may have started in my heart, but it’s been built in the middle of our real life—with love, grit, God’s grace… and usually at least one child yelling “Mom!” from the other room.

What We Believe

At Wonder & Light, we believe childhood is sacred.

We believe wonder is worth protecting, messy play matters, and some of the best learning happens in ordinary moments.

We believe faith belongs in everyday life—in muddy shoes, bedtime prayers, big questions, and porch conversations.

We believe parents don’t have to do this perfectly to raise children who feel deeply loved, rooted in truth, and free to wonder.

And we believe the little moments we’re so often tempted to rush through are usually the ones that matter most.
