Why I Created Curiosity Camp

The story behind our summer of wonder

It all started just a few days before summer break officially began. I was on the hunt for a summer curriculum—something for my boys to work through that would keep their minds active, their hands busy, and their hearts full of connection and curiosity. I didn’t want to spend our days inside battling screens or running through one academic worksheet after another. I wanted something more.
Something meaningful.
Something that would let them explore the world God created.
Something that would help them bond with each other, with their friends, with their dad, and with me. And above all, something that would keep faith at the center of it all.
I found some beautiful resources out there. But none of them did all of that. They were either too academic, too pricey, too disconnected, or too tech-heavy. I didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollars piecing together random pintables that didn’t truly fit together.
So I did something I didn’t expect:
I made my own.
Not for a business. Not for anyone else. Just for us.
Drawing from my background in early childhood education and what I know about developmentally appropriate practice, I built a plan rooted in play, connection, creativity, and faith. One that trusted that our kids don’t need screens. They need sunshine. They need to learn how to be bored, how to build from nothing, how to ask questions, how to feel wonder.
They need nature. They need time. They need a little space to grow, together.
So I started scribbling ideas—a few learning activities, some outdoor prompts, a math idea that didn’t feel like a worksheet, a devotion that matched the theme. I shared it with my mom. And before I knew it, the ideas were snowballing into something bigger. One activity became four. One trail became a whole map. One week became an entire adventure.
And eventually... Curiosity Camp was born.
There were about 14 versions along the way. I kept tweaking and changing and praying and wondering if I should even share it at all. This started from a deeply personal need—I was trying to build something to serve my own family. And truthfully? I didn’t think it would be good enough for anyone else.
But God had other plans.
This wasn’t just a personal project. It was a God-given nudge. A chance to serve families who felt the same way I did: tired of screen time, unsure how to balance play and learning, and desperate for something that felt true to childhood and rooted in Christ.
Now, what started as a simple idea for my boys is becoming something I get to share with moms all around.
Curiosity Camp is for the families who want more joy and less pressure. More connection and less chaos. More wonder and less "what do we do today?"
You don’t have to travel the world or spend a fortune to have a magical summer. You just need a little bit of time, a lot of patience, and a whole lot of wonder.
This is my prayer: that this curriculum blesses families far beyond mine. That it becomes a tool to help you embrace a slower, fuller, more faithful summer. That it all points back to the Lord, who helped me create something I never imagined I could.
I don’t know how to run a business.
I don’t know how to sell a product.
I barely know how to format a worksheet.
But I do know what kids need. And God filled in the rest.
And now? I can’t wait to explore, play, and wonder with my children this summer.
And I hope you will too.
