Carry the Light: A January Family Practice
Carry the Light invites families to slow down during the darker, quieter days of January and practice noticing where light is needed — both within their own homes and in the world around them.
While the new year is often filled with fresh starts and big goals, January can also feel heavy, lonely, or exhausting for many. This gentle family practice offers children simple, meaningful ways to bring kindness, encouragement, and presence to others — reminding them that light doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.
Rooted in John 1:4–5, Carry the Light centers on the truth that light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Through weekly options, reflection, prayer, and hands-on activities, families are invited to live out this truth together in small, tangible ways.
By the end of the month, your family will have practiced slowing down, noticing others, and choosing kindness — creating rhythms of compassion and faith that extend far beyond January.
